Shanon was introduced to the power of vision at the age of 10 when his dad and uncle implemented a Holistic Resource Management inspired Three Part Goal into their family ranch. The family operated their business successfully from that vision for many years. Too many. As new people came into the business, as markets, consumer tastes, and input costs changed, and finally after they lost Shanon’s uncle in a ranch accident, the original vision no longer led the business towards the success it once had. It took several years for the family to finally let go of the old vision and replace it with a vision that matched their new context. Shanon (and Melinda) learned from this experience how easy it is to put something that’s “not broken” off until “someday when it’s more convenient” and wants to help others avoid the same pitfall. Shanon is passionate about removing as many obstacles to successful visioning as possible because of his positive and negative experiences. Vision Flight is a natural outcome of that passion.

Melinda married in to a successful ranching operation that had a vision (Three Part Goal) in place - but one she'd never seen. After the loss of Shanon's uncle, it became very evident that the family needed to revise the vision to reflect not only ownership changes, but also the wants and desires of all the family involved. Participation in the vision process allowed Melinda to express her desires to be more than just an "on-call" part of the business and more involved in the management of the company. She now actively participates in the day-to-day operations, is in charge of the finances of the company, and has an active role in leadership. Melinda is passionate about helping others understand the freedom and fulfillment that comes from having the space to express without judgement one's wants and desires and that those dreams can come true with a little bit of time and thoughtfulness. VisionFlight creates that space and structure to realize a vision.
